The event was recorded on film, and shows Lily Cowan, 10, and Missy, 10, walking around their neighbourhood in Toronto when a coyote starts stalking them.

Lily starts crying for help before giving up Missy’s leash in hopes of calling a neighbor’s help.

Missy started fighting the Wolf to protect her baby at this moment. “I went to the pier and started screaming for help,”Lily recalls to reporters from News 6. No one seems to hear me. Recently I noticed a wolf trying to attack my dog, I started ringing doorbells and knocking on doors, but only one neighbor let me in.”

“I really thought that this little dog could protect this giant person, trying to fight this huge Wolf,”said the owner. “She is a wonderfully brave dog, I adore her very much.”

Messi was able to save Lily from the wolf, but it was not without cost. She received injuries to her leg and body, and needs surgery.

Dorothy Kwan, Lily’s mother, launched a GoFundMe campaign with the goal of 10,000 dollars to pay for the operation. They quickly surpassed this and are currently at 38,500 dollars, 2,000 dollars shy of the new target.

“My dog would do anything for our family, so I’m honestly not shocked that she did it,”Dorothy told News 6. “She is our little heroine.”

“I would never have thought that a wolf would come out during the day, especially with someone screaming and screaming,”she adds. “It simply went on in her face and our dog, despite all the screams, was very violent.”
