Curious Cat Peers Through a New York Window and Finds Joy Worth Purring For Inside

There are many stray cats across the U.S. Some are fortunate enough to have someone care for them, but not all are as lucky as Chris to find a home.

This adorable male cat decided to leave his stray life behind, entering a house through a window as if he knew something beautiful awaited him inside.

It all began when a kind-hearted woman, who regularly feeds local cats, noticed a fresh face in her New York neighborhood – a cat later named Chris.

He would join the other cats during feeding time, but the woman quickly noticed something surprising. Unlike many stray cats, Chris was incredibly friendly.

Recognizing his sweet nature, the woman knew she had to get him off the streets. She contacted Ridgewood Rescue in New York, and they were happy to help.

The rescue team gathered to catch Chris and bring him to safety, but then, something incredible happened.

As soon as the woman opened her window, Chris approached, rubbing against it and peeking inside. He then calmly entered the home, as though he sensed a brighter future awaited him.

He explored the apartment and sat down, already feeling at home. The rescuers gently took Chris in for further examination.

To everyone’s surprise, Chris was in good health, aside from being starving. A further examination revealed that he was also neutered, but had no microchip.

Given his friendly personality and the fact that he had been neutered, the rescuers believed Chris had a home at some point in his life.

They decided to try and find his missing family. Heather Glassberg from Ridgewood Rescue shared in an interview:

“We made posters and asked around the area, but no one came forward to claim him, which sadly happens quite often. We decided to place him in foster care while we looked for a permanent home.”

Chris thrived in foster care, enjoying the meals and attention he had missed while on the streets. However, his fosterers soon noticed he was having serious issues using the litter box.

They tried using every possible alternative, but nothing seemed to work. Yet, they refused to give up.

One of the rescuers suggested looking into a barn-cat adoption, thinking that perhaps Chris had been an indoor-outdoor cat, used to doing his business outside.

Fortunately, Chris didn’t have to wait long for his happily ever after. A woman living in a semi-rural area reached out to the rescue, looking for a feline companion. Her previous cat passed away after years of living an indoor-outdoor life.

It seemed like the perfect opportunity for Chris, so his caretakers decided to give it a shot. Heather explained:

“After speaking with her, we knew we had found the best option for Chris. We appreciated her honesty and dedication to making the situation as safe as possible. She was willing to accept that he might have litter box accidents inside.”

The woman and her husband drove over five hours to meet Chris and welcome him into their family. But, what happened next surprised everyone.

From the moment Chris arrived at his new home, he had no litter box accidents and used it normally, as if he knew he was finally in the right place with the right family.

Now, his name is Felix, and he transformed into an adorable house cat, who’s finally thriving in his life just as he should.
