The mother cat, who was watching the rescue process from a distance, was determined to protect her kitten and bring him to a safe place. Unfortunately, the kitten had a fracture in his ribs and a serious spinal injury, which meant he would need to be rescued as soon as possible.
The rescue team managed to find the kitten and take him to the vet for an examination.
The X-ray showed that the fifth vertebrae and the rib on one side were lifted, pressing on the spinal nerves and causing both hind legs to be injured. The vet concluded that the kitten had been abused by someone, and the mother cat had no choice but to watch.
The kitten underwent surgery, but the bone pieces from the fracture had cut the nerves, leaving him with almost 90% of the nerves cut. This meant that the kitten would have to live with others’ help for the rest of his life.
A few days later, the kitten was visited by singer Kim Wan Sun, who decided to adopt him. She was drawn to the kitten because one of her cats had an arm injury and couldn’t stand up. Kim Wan Sun named the kitten Superman and started physical rehab treatment in the hope of improvement.
After two weeks, the vet had good news: the nerves were coming back and the kitten could improve more than he was now. Thanks to Kim Wan Sun’s great efforts, the kitten was given a wheelchair to help him walk again. After taking a few steps, he almost flew like Superman.
