WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, is one of the most beloved boxers on the planet. From a tentative point fighter to becoming a devastating KO artist, Fury has had a long journey and the fans have grown fond of him. He is also one of the tallest fighters around. But, a recent picture with UFC fighter Alex Pereira may just discredit that.
Former UFC middleweight champion, Alex Pereira was a formidable kickboxer during his prime. Recently, he took a picture with Tyson Fury which made the fans question Tyson’s real height. While Pereira was in his Venum UFC training gear, Tyson was in an extravagant suit. Although it was certainly nice to see two champion fighters from different fields of combat sports cross over, the picture went viral for a different reason.

In the picture, both Pereira and Tyson seemed to be of the same height. But, judging by their official heights, Tyson is the taller person with 5 inches on Pereira. According to the MMA outlet Sherdog, Alex “Poatan” Pereira stands at 6’4, and the champion heavyweight fighter, Tyson Fury, reportedly stands at 6’9. However, there are also pictures of Fury and Israel Adesanya, where Fury seemed much taller.
It is important to mention that both Alex and Izzy stand at 6’4. Hence, it was surprising to see Pereira and Fury being the same in height in the picture. Even the heavyweight champ could not believe how big Pereira really was.
Fans react to viral pictures of Tyson Fury with Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya
Alex Pereira is undoubtedly one of the most physically impressive fighters on the UFC roster. Throughout his UFC run, there have been instances when Pereira’s physical frame was much bigger than some light heavyweight and heavyweight fighters. However not many expected Alex to give Tyson Fury a run for his money in terms of size. It led to fans questioning whether UFC provided the correct information about the height of their fighters or not.
Here are some fan reactions on the matter
Something doesn’t add up!
Tyson Fury 6’9
Alex Pereira 6’4
Israel Adesanya 6’4Either Alex isn’t 6’4, Israel isn’t 6’4 or Fury isn’t 6’9?

As fans can see in the picture, Pereira was wearing a sneaker that had a very hefty sole. It may have played a big factor in making Pereira seem as if he was of the same height as “The Gypsy King.” During his trilogy bout against Deontay Wilder, fans saw Tyson’s real height. While Wilder stands at 6’7, Tyson clearly had a sizable height advantage. So the chances of UFC misleading the fans about his height are slim to none.
As far as their respective career goes, Alex Pereira is set to fight former light heavyweight champ Jan Blachowicz. Following his KO loss to Israel Adesanya at UFC 287, Alex has moved up in weight and is likely to have a much better weight cut. Tyson Fury, on the other hand, was in talks to face Oleksandr Usyk. But the negotiations broke down at the eleventh hour. His last bout came against Derek Chisora in December 2022, which he won via TKO.
